One of the main aims of Social Security Organization after Islamic revolution is providing necessary facilities in the trend of providing services to addressee, eliminating unnecessary measures in designing the process of accomplishing programs especially in the field of providing optimized services to insureds, retirees and employers. Among important reforms in social security organization, we can mention below items:
- to increase the validity of medical booklet
- to validate medicine prescription
- to facilitate retirement pension conditions
- to facilitate pension payment methods to retired people
- to review principles of providing maternity assistance
- to carry out examination and visit plans of disabled people at their home
- to facilitate funeral allowance payment method
- to provide voluntary insurance facilities
- to provide new facilities and resolve the problems regarding the payment of loans to beneficiaries and retirees
- to increase the validity of medical booklet and to deliver it to the insureds in one day in all branches. Before this reform, extending the duration and change of medical booklets had been performed just in the main branch, and the long periods for booklets change had caused numerous references and dissatisfaction of pensioners as well as insureds. Implementing this process, reciprocally would lead to severe decreasing of references and inner city transportations.
- Increasing the Validity of prescribed prescriptions in medical booklets to prevent unnecessary referral of the insured to the doctor in order to obtain a new prescription.
- Facilitating provisions of retirement pension and reducing the period of issuing orders in less than 10 days, compare to the average 3 months in the previous management of the SSO.
- Facilitating the methods of paying pensions to the retirees and other groups of pensioners, by setting the referral timetable according to alphabetical order and organizing branches of Refah Bank in order to deliver services to the pensioners of Social Security Organization. In these branches in addition to comfort the pensioners and informing about services and obligations of the organization, a doctor is also available for the urgent services and health consultations for the elderly.
- Establishment of sub-branches to facilitate access to insurance services specially in deprived regions and other regions that do not have the required standards to establish the permanent branches regarding the number of the insured, pensioners and other facilities covered by Social Security Law.
- Revising Standards of maternity allowance in another new instruction. The standards of maternity allowance have been revised and new facilities have been provided. According to this instruction, when maternity leaves which are presented by women are in accordance with the laws approved by the Islamic parliament (for the duration of 6 months), there is no need to obtain the SSO confident physician and hospital's certification and the birth is only required for the payment of maternity allowance.
- Implementation of the examination and visiting scheme of patients who are disabled at their residences by equipping and preparing required medical teams (in the first phase this plan is being performed experimentally in 3 health centers in Tehran and then after resolving difficulties will be performed in other centers).
- Facilitating the payment of funeral grant to the survivors of the insured, according to the agreement made by SSO with Beheshte Zahra organization in which the funeral expenses would be deducted from the total allowance and the rest would be paid to the legal survivors.
- Facilities for voluntary insurance is another basic step toward providing services to the insured. On the basis of this regulation those men and women who are not more than 40 and 45 years old, by having 360 days of contributions payment records are eligible to receive these benefits. Those men and women who are older than the above mentioned ages should pay contributions more than 360 days according to their ages. Meanwhile those persons who are insured for at least 10 years are eligible for voluntary insurance at any age
- Making new facilities in order to provide loans to retirees and pensioners through payment of installments so that people can make use of bank loans without confronting any difficulties, Social Security Organization (SSO) by issuing a new instruction has guaranteed the reimbursement of the due installments of its retirees and pensioners in a way that these individuals can make benefit of the Bank facilities.
